Speaking at Somara: Binnah Pownall is a community activist with more than twenty years experience working with the Originie people, mainly in Northern New South Wales. Binnah is experienced as a youth crisis counsellor and is well respected by both white and Originie people as a valuable bridge between these communities.
He is also a Sovereignty activist, writes in local journals and facilitates discussion on Original Spirituality. Binnah is widely respected as one of the elders of our local community in the Byron Shire.
Binnah Pownall will be speaking on the panels: ‘Connection to Country’ and ‘Cultural Appropriation’.
